Ministry of Agriculture Encourages Garut Agricultural Commodities

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Harvick Hasnul Qolbi continues to encourage Garut’s agricultural commodities. This encouragement is expected to advance its potential for export. It will also increase the welfare of farmers.

According to kompas.com, the Ministry of Agriculture is realizing this with  Farming Business Road (JUT). Harvick symbolically handed over this assistance from the Directorate General of Agricultural Facilities and Infrastructure (PSP) Ministry of Agriculture, Garut, West Java (02/08/2023).

“Today we are witnessing investment in the form of a Farming Road. Hopefully it can increase agricultural output in Garut Regency. So that it can boost exports,” he explained in a press statement.

Harvick said that the Ministry of Agriculture had planned a Triple Export Movement (Gratieks) program. This program could accelerate agricultural exports. One of the targeted areas is Garut.

Based on this, he hopes that the cropping index (IP) and agricultural productivity in Garut can increase. This increase will focus on fulfilling domestic food needs first. This is important for realizing national food sovereignty.

“Garut is a center for corn and horticulture. But, Garut coffee also has an extraordinary potential. We have to encourage this so it can turn to be export-oriented,” he added.

Garut Regent Rudy Gunawan said JUT was a strategic program to drive agricultural production in his area. JUT can facilitate access to agricultural facilities and infrastructure to farmer’s land.

“JUT is one of the assistance that the people of Garut expect from the Regional Expenditure Budget (APBD). Hopefully it can expand our farming network,” said Rudy.
