The Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo revealed that agricultural exports reached IDR 640.56 trillion in 2022. This figure increased by 3.93% from 2021. According to Syahrul, the largest contributors came from palm oil and other plantations, namely as much as 90%.
“Palm oil is one of the most basic strategies, even during COVID-19. Yesterday our (plantation) export growth was above IDR 600 trillion, 90% in the hands of oil palm and other plantations,” he said at the 2023 Palm Oil National Coordination Meeting at the Hotel Pullman Central Park, Jakarta (27/2/2023).
Reported by finance.detik.com, Syahrul regretted that the realization of the people’s oil palm rejuvenation program (PSR) was still relatively low. He also pushed for the requirements to get PSR subsidies not to be too many.
PSR is a program that involves many parties. Among them are the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of ATR/BPN, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, and the Oil Palm Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS).
“From me, there were almost 16 or 19 regulations. Now there are only 2-3. What are we doing, don’t bother yourself. In the end, we skipped a lot of rules, we got hit again. Yes, Mr. Regent, yes, Mr. Director General, talk to Musdalifah. Come on down we do it together, the 200,000 ha period can’t,” said Syahrul.
For information, in 2022 the export value of plantation commodities will reach IDR 577.17 trillion. This figure contributed 92.34% of the total export value of agricultural commodities.
Although this is dominated by CPO and its derivatives, other leading commodities such as coffee, coconut, spices and cocoa have also shown a significant increase in export value.
