Indonesia Spice Route Toward Digital Transformation

The National Spice Association together with PT Teknologi Cakra Internasional (TCI) are preparing the Indonesia spice route for digital transformation. Chairperson of the National Spice Association Titi Jusup Mintai, explained Indonesian spice commodities are in demand by many foreign buyers . However, there are difficulties in accessing Indonesia’s spice directly from business actors or farmers.

“In the past, Indonesia was known for its glory as a spice producer, but now it is starting to sink. This is why we want to revive it, so that the world community, especially overseas buyers, know that Indonesian spices are still available and of high quality,” said Titi Jusup in a press statement (12/11/2022).

Reported by investor.id, to achieve this digital transformation, the National Spice Association together with TCI made an application as a special marketplace for buying and selling spice products and their derivatives. Apart from being a marketplace, this digital application also provides assistance to business actors who are members of it. This application is expected to assist its members in producing high quality spice products, making attractive packaging, and managing business finances.

“With this application, it will be easier for farmers, cooperatives, and spice commodity business actors to sell their products directly to buyers, both domestically and abroad without having to go through middlemen,” said Maya Miranda Ambarsari, TCI Owner.

Maya, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Spice Association, is ready to support the development of the potential of spices by means of digital transformation for the spice route. She considered Indonesian spices as a valuable treasure and an ancestral heritage that must be preserved.

“The existence of this association gives us all the opportunity that there is already a container as an umbrella that not only accommodates Indonesian spice products but also helps farmers and business people through the use of digital technology so that they can expand market share both at home and abroad. ,” she explained.

Maya also hopes that this association can increase the competitiveness of national spices and increase their selling value. So that spices are not just a commodity, but have their own value for both national and international markets.
