East Aceh Corn Production Reaches 22,374 Tons

It was recorded that East Aceh managed to produce 22,374 tons of corn. This figure was recorded by the East Aceh District Government through the Food Crops and Horticulture Service. This figure is the overall number of corn production in East Aceh throughout 2022.

According to republika.co.id, Head of the East Aceh Food Crops and Horticulture Office Erwin Etlizar, said that the corn crop area reaches 4,097 hectares. Thousands of hectares of corn fields are spread across 24 sub-districts in East Aceh District. However, several sub-districts were made corn production centers, for example, Indra Makmu sub-district.

Erwin said the amount of corn production was able to meet the needs of the community. His party continues to increase corn production to support food security in East Aceh District.

“Not only corn, we are also trying to develop soybeans,” he said.

Erwin explained that soybean production is still low. Soybean production will only reach 13.2 tons throughout 2022. The low soybean production is due to the declining interest of farmers in planting soybeans. Even so, his party will continue to develop soybeans and make their production center in Gampong Alue Patong, Indra Makmur District.

“Apart from improving people’s welfare, the development of this soybean crop also supports national food security. Especially in East Aceh District,” he added.
