The Indonesian government has officially granted permission for export to five raw minerals. This commodity consists of copper, iron, lead, zinc, and copper refining anode mud. The permit was granted from 10 June 2023 to May 2024.
Reported by cnbcindonesia.com, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif gave an explanation regarding this export permit or relaxation. He revealed that the government is still providing opportunities for holders of Mining Business Permits (IUP) or Special Mining Business Permits (IUPK). Specifically, for the five commodities.
“It can only be given to IUP/IUPK holders whose refining facilities have reached 50% in January 2023,” he added in a working meeting with Commission VII DPR RI.
For information, to obtain an Export Recommendation, one must meet the requirements stated in the Ministerial Regulation. Arifin also said that there is a monitoring mechanism by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. This is based on the physical progress of the construction of the refining facility. With the results of the verification by an independent verifier.
Arifin also reiterated that the government had banned the export of raw minerals. These prohibitions and provisions are contained in Law Number 3 of 2020 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining (Minerba Law). For example, bauxite will be prohibited from exporting as of June 10, 2023.
“In accordance with Article 170 A of the Minerba Law. The limit for the sale of minerals abroad is a maximum of 3 years after the issuance of the Minerba Law (2020). We also have to refer to the previous domestic processing policy. Which already has rules for this to be carried out several times for relaxation,” he explained.
