Italy Brings Hope to Palm Oil Commodities

The President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked for Italy’s support for palm oil commodities. President Jokowi conveyed this request to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. This was done in review of the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) policy or the Anti-Deforestation Law.

According to politik.rmol.id, the meeting of the two heads of state was also accompanied by the Indonesian Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan. The bilateral meeting was held this Sunday in New Delhi, India (10/09/2023).

“Indonesia also hopes for Italy’s support for our palm oil products from the EUDR policy. Italy understands and will discuss it,” explained Zulkifli in a written statement (11/09/2023).

Zulkifli said that President Jokowi also appreciated the increase in Italian investment in Indonesia. Likewise, Italy’s commitment to the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) scheme.

“We also invite Italy,” he stated.

In the future, Indonesia will invite Italy to participate in developing various other environmentally friendly projects. Such as building an electric vehicle ecosystem, green infrastructure, and development of the Indonesian capital city.
