The First Edition of the Indonesian Spice Festival was held at La Maison de L’Indonesie (LMDI), Paris. The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy held this festival to promote Indonesian spice commodities. The festival will take place from 10 to 31 May 2023.
“In addition to the spice commodity, we also raise culinary artisans whose products are increasingly diverse. Our hope is to promote these local artisanal products so that Indonesian products become more global,” said the Creative Economy Marketing Director of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Erwita Dianti (08/05/2023).
Reporting from harijogja.com, this festival is part of the Indonesia Spice Up the World (ISUTW) program. This program is expected to expand market access for Indonesian creative economy actors.
This is realized by inviting various invited guests who are engaged in the culinary field. The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy invited representatives from gastronomic schools, culinary and restaurant business owners, chefs, retail and wholesale traders, as well as halal product companies located in France.
There are six culinary products that will participate in this festival. Starting from Lemonilo, Katuju rendang seasoning, Pure pepper and coffee, processed chocolate products If Chocolat, Spice from the East spices, and various Sweet & Spicy sambals. Invited guests and visitors can taste and see firsthand the products offered.
ISUTW Program
The ISUTW program is a strategy to introduce Indonesian spices and seasoning products abroad. This program is expected to spur the development of Indonesian restaurant chains abroad. This effort is part of Indonesia’s gastrodiplomacy efforts.
ISUTW program targets the export value of spices and seasonings to reach US$2 billion (around Rp.29.4 trillion). Not only that, this program will also present 4,000 Indonesian restaurants abroad by 2024.
