Indonesian Culinary Has the Potential to Increase Spice Exports

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said that currently there are around 400 Indonesian culinary businesses spread across the Netherlands. Based on this fact, Sandiaga sees the potential to increase exports of spices and herbs from Indonesia.
“Currently there are more than 400 Indonesian culinary businesses spread across the Netherlands, starting from restaurants, shops, to home catering businesses. This shows that there are great opportunities for the development of the Netherlands. Starting from Indonesian culinary hubs in Europe both in terms of quality, concept and quantity,” he said through an official statement (20/06/2023).
Reported by Antaranews.com, Sandiaga fully supports the development of restaurants and the distribution of Indonesian spices to the Netherlands. This country is also one of the destination countries under the “Indonesia Spice Up The World” program.
It has been realized through the Investment Dialogue Series in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy in Den Haag, the Netherlands. This collaborations aims to open insight into investment opportunities for Indonesian restaurants in the Netherlands.
Indonesia Spice Markets
The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Netherlands, Mayerfas also gave his opinion. He said, the number of Indonesian restaurants in the Netherlands is quite large and encouraged to continue to grow. In fact, currently there are several entrepreneurs who plan to invest in Indonesian restaurants in the Netherlands. He is optimist that Indonesian food can be accepted in the Netherlands and even European markets.
“This demand will continue to grow from time to time. So we are optimistic that efforts to increase the marketing of Indonesian spices abroad will be very large. We are also working with various MSMEs in Indonesia including farmers to increase their market in the Netherlands,” he said.
For information, “Indonesia Spice Up The World” is a program to accelerate opening Indonesian restaurants abroad. This program targets 4,000 Indonesian restaurants operating overseas. It estimates that there will be an increase in spice exports of up to USD 2 billion.
