Indonesia Is One of the World’s Largest Cocoa Exporting Country

Indonesia is one of the largest cocoa exporting countries in the world. The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that the export value of cocoa and its processed products from Indonesia reached US$1.21 billion. However, the export trend of cocoa has fluctuated in the last decade.
Cocoa Exports Trend
According to indonesiabaik.id, in 2019, total exports decreased by 5.87 percent to 358.48 thousand tons compared to 2018. In 2020 the total export volume increased to 377.85 thousand tons with a total value of US$ 1.24 billion. Then there was an increase to 382.71 thousand tonnes in 2021, with a total value of US$ 1.21 billion.
Cocoa Export Destination Countries
Most of Indonesia’s cocoa production is exported to foreign countries and the rest is marketed domestically. Indonesia’s cocoa exports reach five continents, namely Asia, America, Europe, Africa and Australia with the main share in Asia.
Based on export volume, export volume to Malaysia reached 55.91 thousand tons. The second rank is China, with an export volume of 51.76 thousand tons. The third rank is India, with an export volume of 50.38 thousand tons. The fourth rank is America with an export volume of 47.00 thousand tons. Fifth place is the Philippines with an export volume of 20.44 thousand tons.
