Exports of Seasonings and Spices Raise Targets for 2024

The Ministry of Industry has increased the seasonings and spices export target for 2024. The program’s target is to increase the export of this industry up to US$2 billion. This program will also strengthen sectors related to seasonings and spices. One of them is the food and beverage (F&B) sector.

“Various policies have been rolled out by the government. We hope to encourage exports and ensure the availability of raw materials from the supply side by increasing industrial competitiveness and productivity. In addition, on the demand side, we support expanding market access and reducing barriers,” said Director General of Agro Industry Putu Juli Ardika in Jakarta (29/11/2022).

According to wartaekonomi.co.id, The Ministry of Industry noted that in the January to September 2022 period, exports of the F&B industry reached USD 35.99 billion. This figure increased from USD 12.76 billion in the same period the previous year. In addition, investment in the F&B industry in the second quarter of 2022, reached IDR 41.37 trillion. This industry was also able to absorb a workforce of 5.5 million people.

The Ministry of Industry also noted that the cooking seasoning industry has a positive trade balance. This industry provides products such as soy sauce, chili sauce, tomato sauce, cooking spices, etc.. In the same period this year, exports of Indonesian cooking spices reached US$175.8 million.
