A total of 50 containers of Indonesian coffee beans were exported to Egypt. This export shipment was successfully realized in early 2023. Trade Attache at the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo Irman Adi Purwanto, said that the opportunity for Indonesian coffee exports to Egypt was indeed wide open.
“Because many Egyptian buyers make processed and flavored coffee blends, both traditional and contemporary coffee, as well as a mixture of spices with Indonesian Robusta coffee ingredients,” said Irman in a written statement (04/01/2023).
Reported by bisnis.tempo.co, statistical data from the BPS Egypt (CAPMAS) record that Indonesia’s coffee exports to Egypt from January to August 2022 reached USD 67,57 million. This figure shows an increase of 32.78% or around USD 50,87 million, compared to the same period in 2021.
Seeing this increase, Irman hopes that Indonesia coffee exporters will continue to pay attention to their product quality. Especially with Egypt market as their target. So the export products sent to Egypt really match the buyer’s request.
In addition, the Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt Lutfi Rauf also hopes that this coffee export can elevate Indonesian spices. This is followed by market opportunities for spices as an important supporting ingredient in the coffee industry in Egypt.
One of the buyers, Haggag Import & Export CEO Hasan Sayed Haggag also appreciated and thanked the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo. This includes the assistance provided when the importation occurs.
